about

Blue Poetry was the fourth of our songs to feature in the BBC TV drama Waterloo Road in 2011.

We recorded Blue Poetry during the sessions for our Molehills Out Of Mountains album. However, it didn't make it onto the album and this is the first time this version of the song has been made available.

lyrics

Bowled over
It takes time to see
Cried over
A long while with me
Stood slowly
I tried hard to call
Tried hard to write
I’ve been worried sick
Up all night long

But you didn’t call
You wouldn’t call for nothing
Nothing

Well I’ve burned the thought of sympathy, the taste of it
This hollow sin, cracks of hope within blue poetry
But it’s too late to worry tonight

I’m a shadow of my former shade
A ride on this train made it vanish away
I came back to see
I didn’t come all this way just to knock on your door
Don’t leave me alone please pick up the phone
Don’t leave me alone please pick up the phone

But you didn’t hear
You didn’t hear for hours
And I waited all night

Well I’ve burned the thought of sympathy, the taste of it
This hollow sin, cracks of hope within blue poetry

Well I’ve burned the thought of sympathy, the sweet taste of it
This hollow sin, cracks of hope within
I’m terrified

But it’s too late to worry
It’s too late to care
It’s too late to wish for what we can’t have
